I recently had the privilege of watching the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra as well as the boys, male and female choirs performing the score to the entirety of The Two Towers. It was a fantastic experience to hear the music of such an amazing film played live. I have to say that the fact that the orchestra was able to play for the full three hours without missing a beat, mistiming a piece’s beginning or end is testament to their professionalism and skill.

Howard Shore’s score is amazing enough in the movie, but to have it played and sung live is an unforgettable moment, especially the piece titled Evenstar. It sends shivers down my spine when I think about it.

I won’t go into the film itself, The Two Towers is what it is, a great followup to The Fellowship of the Ring and a tension building lead into The Return of the King. All I can say is that if you do have a chance to catch the performance of Return of the King in February 2014, I seriously suggest not missing it!
